How It Came Together
- Telemetry First: What started as a custom rewrite of the Pi-Star APRS configuration quickly turned into a full telemetry pipe, delivering live health metrics and operational data straight to
APRS.fi.
- A Modern Refresh: Once the telemetry pipeline was locked in, it made sense to completely overhaul the default frontend. The goal was simple: replace dated status displays with a clean, visually engaging dashboard featuring all the stats, visual meters, and operational details we’ve always wanted to see at a glance.
- Built in VS Code: Built from scratch using modern web tools inside Microsoft Visual Studio Code, combining Pi-Star’s robust backend engine with a customized, responsive frontend.
What’s Next?
This layout is currently serving as the live testbed for our local repeater, but the work doesn't stop here. The next phase is to package this entire setup into the Rocket-Star framework—a clean, reusable dashboard template designed so other amateur radio operators and repeater SysOps in the community can easily deploy it on their own MMDVM nodes.
